INTRODUCTION

K2A is a dream come true! Built in camaraderie, trust and sincere desire to help, K2A volunteers are Sibuyanons/Romblomanons who aspires for the association to become a bequest for all Sibuyanons especially for the younger generations as well as the future generations.

Though volunteers are  based in different countries, (Saudi Arabia, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Canada, United Kingdom, United Sates of America, Singapore, among others)  this has not hindered in  pooling time, talents, as well as personal resources together and work as catalysts for the benefit of the children of Sibuyan Island.

K2A shall endeavor to work with socially responsible Sibuyanons and other individuals as well as institutional benefactors to fulfill our mission of providing educational assistance to our beneficiaries.

Through this concerted effort, K2A shall strive molding new generations of Sibuyanons to become more responsible individuals. We shall endeavor shaping their young characters into becoming an epitome of a true Sibuyanon – educated, God fearing, with high moral standards, talented, environment caring & culturally rooted.

With the guidance of the Almighty Father, benevolence of our family, friends, fellow Sibuyanons and other benefactors, the mission of K2A is within reach!

HISTORY

In October 2006, three OFW Romblomanons working in Saudi Arabia were watching a TFC cable (The Filipino Channel) broadcast one weekend, about overseas Filipino organizations raising funds for various needy individuals & charities in the Philippines.  It made a great impact and has served as the inspiration in forming the Kasimanwako Association.

Other Romblomanons (both overseas and based in the Philippines) were soon contacted, brainstormed thru emails, chatrooms and text messages.  The proposal was met with great enthusiasm and on January 7, 2007, a Friendster account (http://www.friendster.com/36914096) was created thereby officially giving birth to the Association. Invitations were then forwarded to some more Kasimanawa's through the internet, thus having the first respondents form the core of the founding members.

KasimanwaKo was chosen as the association’s official name to emphasize the resulting unity of the members, despite coming from three different municipalities of Sibuyan Island, Romblon. The name derives from two words, “Kasimanwa" which is Ilongo dialect word for "living in the same place" and followed by the possessive pronoun "Ko”, which simply means "my."
